A node which sees a GIST packet will examine it more closely and see that it is UDP
Either regardless of RAO value, or other issues prevent the use of RAO values other than 0; in either case, we can’t use non-zero RAO values to get around this step
It will then deliver it to its local UDP stack (which all routers will have)
The local UDP stack will discard it since it doesn’t support GIST
Discard could be silent or could be ICMP port unreachable
In any case, the packet isn’t forwarded ? GIST is broken
