Minutes from the dhc WG meeting at IETF 66 in Montreal. Thanks to Andre Kostur (Jabber scribe) and John Schnizlein (notes) for their contributions to these minutes. Last call requests draft-ietf-dhc-dhcpv6-agentopt-delegate-01 Document will be updated with sequence numbers to handle message reordering. Consensus for WG last call on this revision will be confirmed on the dhc WG mailing list. draft-ietf-dhc-timezone-option-02 The Microsoft TimeZone element ID option will be removed, as there is no interest in using this option. Consensus for WG last call on this revision will be confirmed on the dhc WG mailing list. dhc wg issues Asked if draft-dhankins-pxelinux-01 should be adopted by wg. No objections in the meeting, will verify consensus on the list. draft-ietf-dhc-server-mib draft is stuck. Little interest in working on it. Ralph proposed publishing Cisco's server MIB as informational. No objections at the meeting. DHCPv6 Relay Agent Echo Request Option Bernie Volz gave a short presentation on this draft, which provides a way for a DHCPv6 relay agent to specify which relay agent options it wants the DHCPv6 server to return in the server response. There was consensus at the meeting to adopt the document as a WG work item; WG consensus will be confirmed on the WG mailing list. DHCP options for PANA Authentication Agents Lionel Morand described the changes in the -03 revision (which will appear after the IETF publication hiatus). The FQDN options will be dropped and the DHCPv4 option will contain a simple list of IPv4 addresses without sub-options. Jari Arkko pointed out that the pana WG is revising its PANA specification, and should be consulted to confirm that this option is still needed. There was consensus at the meeting to adopt the document as a WG work item; WG consensus will be confirmed on the WG mailing list. Any WG last calls will be coordinated to run in parallel with a pana WG last call. Extension of DHCP LEASEQUERY This document is a new proposal for a dhc WG work item, presented by Pavan Kurapati. There was discussion about using options versus sub-options. Dave Hankins asked about using some other management IP address with the existing form of leasequery. Mark Stapp responded that the L2 device may not know the addresses of the DHCP servers. The consensus at the meeting was that the specification needs additional review on the dhc WG mailing list before adoption as a WG work item. DHCP for MANET Autoconf and NETLMM and Fred Templin presented these documents to get input from dhc WG and they will also be presented to the autoconf and netlmm WGs. Bernie Volz asked why not just use DHCPv6 rather than SLAAC with registration through DHCPv6? Ted Lemon replied that the host may want to generate a CGA address. Mark Stapp remarked that registration of an address generated by a host is not currently part of the DHCP architecture. Rob Austein suggested there might be value in using DHCPv6 with CGA to authenticate use of a prefix as well as the interface identifier. Alex Petrescu said the DHCPv6 might be useful as a trigger for netlmm protocols. Both of these drafts fall somewhere in between the charters of the dhc, autoconf, manet and netlmm WGs. They will also be presented at the autoconf WG meeting. Meeting consensus was to defer adoption as WG work items pending further discussion. DHCPv4 Relay Agent Flags Suboption Marie Normoyle presented this draft, which defines an option that addresses the issue of differentiating broadcast and unicast DHCPv4 messages from hosts. There was consensus at the meeting to start a dhc WG last call; WG consensus will be confirmed on the WG mailing list. DHCP Server Identifier Override Suboption It was proposed that new version will reference the Relay Agent Flags Suboption draft for the use of the uc/bc flag, and that the two documents should go to dhc WG last call together. WG consensus will be confirmed on the WG mailing list. In-band SA establishment for DHCPv6 Related drafts: draft-ram-dhc-dhcpv6-aakey-00.txt and draft-ram-dhc-dhcpv6-diam-app-00.txt. Vishnu Ram presented these drafts which describe the use of AAA for RFC 3118 key management. Ralph Droms asked about the IPR claims in the document; Vishnu replied that IPR notifications have been filed with the IETF. These drafts are also being presented to the dime WG. Ralph asked if there is a threat analysis that these drafts address? Vishnu replied that the threats are mostly taken from RFC 3315. John Schnizlein said that these drafts entangle host identification for DHCP with user identification in AAA. Vishnu replied that it is intentional. The drafts will be referred to the dhc WG for more discussion before considering adoption as dhc WG work items. DHCPv6 Leasequery Bernie Volz presented this specification for DHCPv6 leasequery. David Hankins asked about RemoteID and DeviceID queries. Bernie replied that RemoteID is in RFC 3315 and the DeviceID is in progress in the dhc WG. Alain Durand asked about the use of UDP for bulk transfers; why not TCP? There was consensus at the meeting to adopt the document as a WG work item; WG consensus will be confirmed on the WG mailing list. Further discussion will take place on the dhc WG mailing list. Resurrected drafts Review of RFC2131 before adv. to Internet Std , DHCPv4 Threat Analysis , and Changes to the DHCP RFCs . It was noted that these three drafts have been resurrected and what they are about. The two first ones are related to two of the outstanding charter milestones.
