1.2 IETF Progress Report

The IESG and IETF have been quite active since the July IETF Meeting in Oslo, Norway: 68 Protocol Actions taken, 62 Last Calls issued, 627 Internet-Drafts announced, and 82 RFCs published.

Between the IETF meetings in Oslo and Washington, twelve working groups were created:

1. Secure Network Time Protocol (stime)
2. Border Gateway Multicast Protocol (bgmp)
3. Zero Configuration Networking (zeroconf)
4. Common Name Resolution Protocol (cnrp)
5. Web Versioning and Configuration Management (deltav)
6. Session Initiation Protocol (sip)
7. Internet Traffic Engineering (tewg)
8. Transport Area Working Group (tsvwg)
9. Layer Two Tunneling Protocol Extensions (l2tpext)
10. Service in the PSTN/IN Requesting InTernet Service (spirits)
11. Endpoint Congestion Management (ecm)
12. Telephone Number Mapping (enum)

and four working groups concluded:

1. Application MIB (applmib)
2. Common Indexing Protocol (find)
3. IP Payload Compression Protocol (ippcp)
4. PacketWay (pktway)

Additionally, 82 RFC's have been published since the Los Angeles IETF meeting in March, 1998:
