    Minutes
    -------

    1. The minutes of the August 28 Teleconference were approved. Steve to
    place in public archives.

    2. The IESG approved publication of A Common Schema for the Internet White
Pages Service <draft-ietf-ids-iwps-schema-spec-07.txt> as a Proposed
    Standard. Steve to make announcement.

    3. The IESG tentatively approved publication of A One-Time Password System
<draft-ietf-otp-02.txt> as a Draft Standard. Before the announcement is
sent, Jeff Schiller is to submit data on implementation experience to Steve
who will add to the Implementation WEB Page. Once reviewed and deemed
acceptable [to the IESG], Steve will make the announcement.

    4. The IESG approved publication of RPCSEC_GSS Protocol Specification
<draft-ietf-oncrpc-rpcsec_gss-05.txt> as a Proposed Standard. Steve to
    send announcement.

The IESG felt that clarifcation text needed to be added to Authentication
Mechanisms for ONC RPC <draft-ietf-oncrpc-auth-03.txt> before being
    published as an Informational RFC.

    5. The IESG had no problem with the publication of ODETTE File Transfer
Protocol <draft-rfced-info-nash-01.txt> as an Informational RFC. Steve to
send note to the RFC Editors.

    6. The IESG felt that A Dictionary Server Protocol
<draft-rfced-info-faith-02.txt> should not be published until the authors
contact the IANA to register the port number referenced in the document.
The document also assigns a new URL scheme (which needs to be standards
Track). Harald to convey this to the author, and Steve will send note to
    the RFC Editors.

    7. Allyn will contact the author of MAPPING OF AIRLINE TRAFFIC OVER IP
<draft-rfced-info-robert-00.txt> and request a revision before the IESG
    reviews futher.

    8. The Internet-Draft PPP for Asynchronous PAD to Synchronous X.25 access
<draft-rfced-info-khanna-00.txt> is to be reviewed by the PPPEXT Working
Group. Thomas will coordinate with the author and the WG, and Steve
will send note to the RFC Editors.

    9. Harald has exchanged mail with the author of Japanese Characer Encoding
for Internet Messages <draft-rfced-info-tamaru-00.txt>. Steve to send note
to the RFC Editors requesting that this document not be published in its
    current state.

    10. Scott to contact the authors of The Internet-Draft End-to-End Throughput
and Response Time Testing With HTTP User Agents and the JavaScript
    Language <draft-rfced-info-stanislevic-00.txt> suggesting that this
document be reviewed by BMWG/IPPM. Steve to notify the RFC Editors.

    11. Jeff Schiller will contact the author of ElGamal Profile for X.509
Certificates <draft-rfced-info-pgutmann-00.txt> about the PKIX WG
reviewing this document. Steve to send note to the RFC Editors requesting
that this document not be published at this time.

    12. The IESG felt that Hobbes' Internet Timeline
<draft-rfced-info-hobbes-00.txt> deserved a wider community review before
being published as an Informational RFC. Joyce accepted responsibility and
requested Steve to send last call.

    13. Jeff reported on the status of setting up the IESG retreat to be held
November 10-11 at MIT. Jeff is to get hotel rates and send final
instructions to the IESG. Steve volunteered to collect head count and
    dietary restritctions.

    14. After some digging, the IESG recalled the revisions needed for the FTP
Security Extensions <draft-ietf-cat-ftpsec-09.txt>. Jeff to convey to the
    WG.

    15. Steve reported that $100 credits will be issued to full time students
attending IETF meetings beginning at the DC IETF meeting.

    16. Steve also reported that the on-site registration fee will be $100 greater
than the pre-registration fee. This is hoped to motivate people to
    pre-register, resulting in smaller lines.

    18. The IESG spent some time discussing the recent set of articles and
statements on S/MIME that have appeared in the press, along with the
letter received by RSA counsel. Scott to draft a response.

    19. Three Internet-Drafts have been submitted for publication as Informational
documents. All three, however, contain copyright notices by RSA. Scott
will discuss this with IESG counsel to ascertain the appropriate next
    step.
